Susan G. Komen North Carolina Triangle to the Coast is Accepting Applications For Its 2016-2017 Community Health Grant Program


RALEIGH, NC- Susan G. Komen North Carolina Triangle to the Coast Affiliate is proud to announce the availability of grant funds for 2016 -2017. Funds will go to innovative projects in breast health and breast cancer education, outreach, screening, diagnostics, treatment and support programs and services. Funds will support organizations that target medically underserved populations in our 29 county service area in central and eastern North Carolina: Bladen, Brunswick, Caswell, Chatham, Columbus, Duplin, Durham, Edgecombe, Franklin, Granville, Halifax, Harnett, Johnston, Lee, Moore, Nash, New Hanover, Northampton, Onslow, Orange, Pender, Person, Pitt, Sampson, Scotland, Vance, Warren, Wake, and Wilson.

Komen NCTC has identified the following priority areas:

  • Increase and improve access to screening, diagnostic, and treatment services.
  • Engage communities by providing culturally appropriate education/outreach breast health activities.
  • Reduce and remove barriers to provide timely follow-up care.


Applicants may request funding from $10,000 up to $50,000 for one year.

  • Up to $25,000 for programs that provide education and/or social support including survivorship programs and services and angel funds.
  • Up to $50,000 for programs that provide direct patient care costs and services such as screening, diagnostics and treatment.

Organizations applying for Susan G. Komen NCTC funding for the first time using the Komen Grants e-Management System (GeMS), are required to attend a grant writing workshop. Previous applicants using GeMS, are required to attend a workshop or webinar. For more information, contact Julie McQueen at

Grant-writing workshops and webinars are designed to provide information and support to potential applicants. Workshops will be held on the following dates:

  • Tuesday, October 6, 2015, 9:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., Research Triangle Park Headquarters, RTP
  • Thursday, October 8, 2015, 9:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., Columbus Regional Healthcare System, Whiteville


Webinars will be held on the following dates:

  • Monday, October 12, 2015, 1:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday, October 13, 2015, 5:30 p.m.

The Komen North Carolina Triangle to the Coast (NCTC) Affiliate serves 29 counties in central and eastern North Carolina; holding two annual Race for the Cure events in Raleigh and Wilmington. Since its first Race in 1997, $14 million has been raised and used for breast cancer research, local education, advocacy, health services and social programs. Seventy-five percent of the net proceeds generated by the Affiliate stay in the service area. Twenty-five percent of the net proceeds supports Susan G.
