RALEIGH, NC- Dec. 3, 2014 – Applications are now available for the Susan G. Komen® North Carolina Triangle to the Coast (NCTC) Passing the Promise grant. The grant is awarded to non-profit community organizations in our 29-county service area to help bring survivors and co-survivors to the Komen Wilmington Race for the Cure, regardless of their ability to pay registration fees and travel expenses. “Year after year, the Komen Wilmington Race for the Cure® continues to create an atmosphere of inspiration and hope for the lives touched by breast cancer,” said Pam Kohl, executive director of the Komen NCTC Affiliate. “The more people that can be introduced to this experience and connect with others, the more effective it is.”
The Passing the Promise grant was developed in memory of Komen Triangle Race for the Cure® Founder Jeanne Peck and her vision of making the Race an event that embraces all survivors and co-survivors. Questions about the grant application may be directed to Julie McQueen.
The Inaugural Susan G. Komen Wilmington Race for the Cure was held on March 2, 2013. More than 2,300 participants walked and ran through Downtown Wilmington with a purpose, raising over $250,000. We are looking to make a strong impact this year at the 2015 Wilmington Race for the Cure® on Saturday, March 7. Click here to register.
