Luminescence: Saving Lives in Style Fashion Show and Luncheon

Susan G. Komen® North Carolina Triangle to the Coast to host New Event in Wilmington in Support of Breast Cancer Research, Treatment, and Access to Services

Raleigh, N.C. (October 29, 2019) —  To help raise funds in support of breast cancer research and for ensuring access to care, Susan G. Komen ® North Carolina Triangle to the Coast (Komen NCTC) will host, Luminescence: Saving Lives in Style Fashion Show and Luncheon  on Thursday, January 23, 2020, at the Wrightsville Manor in Wilmington, N.C.

This fashion-forward event, presented locally by Wilmington Health and hosted by Randy Aldridge with WWAY-TV, will highlight the work Komen NCTC is doing every day to save lives from breast cancer, while also bringing to light the tragic reality of the disease ‑ more than 42,000 people in the U.S. will die this year from breast cancer.

“Being part of this event is a reminder that the fight against cancer is not done alone,” said Randy Aldridge, anchor for Good Evening Wilmington at WWAY-TV. “I am so happy to be part of an event that gives both hope and help to men and women fighting breast cancer.”

Luminescence will feature the latest fashions from Lumina Station shops and boutiques modeled by local breast cancer survivors and thrivers. The event will also include a keynote address by a healthcare professional, and a local breast cancer survivor will share her story.

“Komen North Carolina Triangle to the Coast is dedicated to providing funding for breast health services, education and outreach in our region, and we are honored to partner with such an amazing organization for the upcoming Luminescence fashion show and luncheon,” said Sue Sielecki, general manager for Lumina Station. “This event will raise much needed funds for research to prevent and cure breast cancer as well as to meet the critical needs in our community.”

Since 1997, Komen NCTC has invested more than $14 million in community breast health programs in its 29-county service area. In 2016, Komen set its bold goal to reduce breast cancer deaths in the U.S. by 50% by 2026.

“We must do everything we can to save lives. This means we are focused on finding breakthroughs for the most aggressive and deadly breast cancers and ensuring that all people receive the care they need,” said Pam Kohl, executive director at Komen NCTC. “We are inspired and excited to join with the local community to find an end to this disease.”

Joining the event with Komen NCTC are a number of local partners including presenting sponsor Wilmington Health, Lumina Station, Fiore Fine Flowers, Sage Island Design, and Wrightsville Manor.

The luncheon event will be held from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at the Wrightsville Manor located at 1952 Allens Lane #3616 in Wilmington. Tickets for the luncheon event are $100 per person.
