Meeting the Most Critical Needs in our Communities
Susan G. Komen NCTC is the local resource for women who need breast cancer screening, diagnostic and support services. Through annual events including the Susan G. Komen® Triangle Race for the Cure and individual contributions, Komen NCTC raises funds that enable women to detect and survive breast cancer.
Komen NCTC’s Community Health Grants Program funds breast cancer detection, support and educational awareness in Central and Eastern North Carolina. During 2019-2020, Komen NCTC is investing $350,000 in education, diagnosis, treatment and support programs that serve uninsured or underinsured residents in our 29 county service area.
Since it was founded in 1997, Komen NCTC has invested more than $14.5 million in local breast health agencies and organizations while contributing $4,978,461 to Komen’s national research grants program. This year alone The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Duke University received over $2.6 million in research funding to find the cures.
Komen NCTC grants 75 percent of net funds to community programs in our service area that have made a positive difference in the lives of those living with this deadly disease. The remaining 25 percent of net funds are invested in the Susan G. Komen National Grant Program.
