2019-2020 Komen NCTC Community Health Program Grants Announced

Susan G. Komen® North Carolina Triangle to the Coast Awards $350,000 in Funding to Support Local Community Residents

RALEIGH, NC (June 27, 2019) – Susan G. Komen® North Carolina Triangle to the Coast (Komen NCTC) announced that $350,000 in fundraised dollars will be distributed through its 2019-2020 Community Health Grants Program. To help achieve Susan G. Komen’s bold goal to reduce current breast cancer deaths by 50 percent in the U.S. by 2026, Komen NCTC annually funds projects to help meet the most critical needs of the local community

Nine grants were awarded locally to support organizations providing vitally needed breast cancer screening, diagnostic and treatment services and support, including patient navigation, education, medical supplies and financial assistance for underinsured and uninsured individuals in the Affiliate’s 29-county service area.

“At Komen, we are committed to ensuring all people have access to screening, diagnosis, and treatment. We are proud to partner with these nine community health organizations in providing lifesaving services to those who need it most,” said Pam Kohl, Komen NCTC Executive Director. “Through support from the local community at events like our Triangle Race for the Cure® and our year-round donors, we are able to help meet the most critical needs of breast cancer patients in our communities.”

Through the Community Health Grants Program, Komen NCTC is committed to funding a diverse group of organizations that share our vision of ending breast cancer forever. Each application received is given thorough consideration by our review panel, an independent group of public health, breast cancer, and community experts. Funding decisions are made based on the specific needs of the community that will be served, the impact the program will make, and the long-term sustainability of the project.
