Susan G. Komen® North Carolina Triangle to the Coast Awards $350,000 in Community Health Grants to 9 Local Organizations
RALEIGH, NC (May 17, 2017) – Susan G. Komen® North Carolina Triangle to the Coast (Komen NCTC) has awarded a total of $350,000 for 9 grants to local nonprofits to support breast health services and education projects for the under-served, under-insured and uninsured populations in a 29-county service area. By awarding these grants our affiliate is helping Susan G. Komen fulfill our promise of decreasing breast cancer mortality in the U.S. by 50% by 2026.
“Our Community Health Grants provide necessary resources for screening and diagnostic mammograms, education, support services and treatment support,” said Pam Kohl, Komen NCTC executive director. “Through support from our local community at our annual Triangle Race for the Cure®, Wilmington Race for the Cure®, and Finding Solutions Through Science, Scholars, and Survivors Research Luncheon we are able to help meet the most critical needs of the women and families in our community.”
Komen North Carolina Triangle to the Coast is committed to funding a diverse group of organizations that share our desire to save lives and end breast cancer forever. Each application received is given thorough consideration by our review panel, an independent group of public health, breast cancer, and community experts. Funding decisions are made based on the specific needs of the community that will be served, the impact the program will make, and the long-term sustainability of the project.
